The class will cut through the learning curve all beginning gardeners face and give you the experience, tools, and seeds to create a productive organic garden this year.
The classes will be led by ifarm’s head gardener, Emily Round. We will base the class on a 4’ x 8’ garden model, though you are welcome to modify the size if desired. The class will work on a demonstration model at ifarm to take all the guesswork out of the process. The garden demonstration will include Arugula, Basil, Cucumbers, Eggplants, Kale, Lettuce, Parsley, Peppers, Radishes, Sweet Peas, Thyme, Tomatoes, Nasturtium, and Zucchini.
ifarm will provide organic Arugula, Kale, Lettuce, Parsley, Sweet Peas, Thyme, and Nasturtium seedlings, as well as seeds for Radishes (a $55 value). Participants can purchase Tomatoes, Cucumbers or Zucchinis, Peppers, Eggplants, and/or Basil at any garden supply store.
You can plan to spend five to seven hours outside of class to purchase materials, construct, prepare, and plant your garden bed. You can expect to spend around $70 to $100 in materials for a garden bed that will last many years. During the growing season, expect to spend at least one to two hours per week caring for your plants.
We highly recommend reserving space early as we expect this series to be popular.
This is a hands-on class with demonstrations: Please come dressed to work with plants and soil, and prepared to be in a greenhouse or outdoors. ifarm will provide gardening gloves for participants to use during the class.
