Everything You Need to Start Your Own Raspberry Patch.

This workshop is for anyone who would like to grow a vibrant patch of raspberries in their backyard.

Emily Round, ifarm’s head gardener, will be teaching participants her methods for growing abundant organic raspberries. Participants will learn how to plant a patch of raspberries that will require low maintenance, grow larger each year, and (once established) produce multiple raspberry harvests each year.

You will take home three certified organic raspberry plants (a $24 value) to create your raspberry patch.

Topics covered will include:

  • How to choose an exceptional raspberry bed location (simple tools to assess soil, sunlight etc.)
  • Where to source your raspberry canes for planting
  • How to easily plant and care for a raspberry patch
  • Common raspberry gardening mistakes
  • How to prune raspberries
  • Soil amendments to make a good home for your raspberries
  • Harvesting strategies to ensure bumper crops
  • Dealing with pests and diseases
  • Preparing your bed for winter

If you have ever wanted your own summer raspberry patch, this is the workshop for you. Participants will be able to create and plant their 2019 raspberry patch with just 5 hours of work outside of class. The patch will require minimal care to provide raspberry harvests that will increase each year, as the plants become established.

Additional raspberry canes will be available for sale at the class, for those who would like a larger raspberry patch.

This is a hands-on class with demonstrations: Please come dressed to work with plants and soil, and prepared to be in a greenhouse or outdoors. ifarm will provide gardening gloves for participants to use during the class.

In the case of cancellation and rescheduling due to weather, we will send out an email to all registrants at least 12 hours before the event. You can read about our cancellation policy here.
