An event every day that begins at 9:00 am, repeating until Friday, August 23, 2019
Our Dandelions Day Camp is a collaboration between ifarm LLC and The Acorn Forest School. This one week program will provide a space for your child (ages 5-8) to exercise, play with other children, and learn about animal habitats by exploring them!
It will be led by skilled environmental educator Alex Crawford, who has been a preschool teacher for 10 years and has facilitated children’s environmental education for 5 years. The classroom will be the forests and fields of ifarm, along with our historic carriage house for inclement weather.
The program begins on Monday, August 19th and ends on Friday, August 23rd. Each day will run from 9 a.m to 12 p.m. Alex will have the support of an ifarm staff member to ensure the student to teacher ratio is never more than 6 to 1.
Monday: Wild Wetlands
We will be getting some use out of our magnifying glasses and microscopes for this program! By exploring the area around the pond we will be on the lookout for some cool creatures that enjoy the water’s edge.
Tuesday: Life Under a Log
There is a whole world to explore under a rock or log! From fascinating insects, fun salamanders to some really cool looking fungus, we will see what we can find!
Wednesday: A Field is the Place for Me!
Fields are full of fun insects to study, we will see what we can collect as we practice our identification skills and keep an eye out for small mammals and their predators.
Thursday: Life in the Forest
The Forest is home to so many creatures, but we will be looking for signs of bird and mammal homes. We might even keep an eye out for some forest magic while we are there!
Friday: Homes and Habitats
We will take a more in-depth look at the group’s favorite habitats and creatures from the week. More information to come about this fun wrap up to our nature-filled week.
We are keeping the class small, at 12 students, so each child has plenty of attention. If enrollment exceeds 12 students, we will create a second group with an additional educator from the Acorn Forest School. Please make sure your child is dressed for the weather, with rain gear, boots, and a snack for snack time.
We will run this program in almost any weather unless there is a torrential storm. If we have to cancel due to serious weather, we will send out an email to all registrants at least 12 hours before the event. We will not offer refunds for days canceled due to weather. All our staff have been CORI checked.
