This value-packed workshop will provide you with all the knowledge, experience, and seed garlic needed to grow an abundant crop of organic Music garlic with minimal effort.

Our hands-on class will leapfrog past the usual garlic gardening mistakes and give you the experience to produce lots of garlic with little input or management. ifarm’s garden manager, Emily Round, will emphasize setting up a garlic crop that can mostly take care of itself: You can expect to spend three hours acquiring compost, preparing, and planting your bed this Fall. In the Spring/Summer of 2019 you will weed and feed your garlic, as well as harvest tasty garlic scapes. Then your bulbs of garlic will be ready to harvest in July!

You will be given 1/2lb (or $15) of organic seed garlic to plant in your own garden. This Music garlic variety is excellent for growing or cooking. Each clove will become a bulb in the next Fall, resulting in roughly three pounds of garlic to harvest. Those who wish to grow more garlic can purchase extra at the workshop.

Topics will include:

Choosing a garlic bed location

Demonstration of preparing a garlic bed and planting the garlic

Caring for your garlic through its life cycle

Insider tips and tricks for a successful garlic crop

Harvesting and curing garlic so it lasts for many months

Troubleshooting issues

In the case of cancellation and rescheduling due to weather, we will send out an email to all registrants at least 6 hours before the event. We will also send out an update on our facebook page. You can read about our cancellation policy here.
