Introduction to Home Brewing

March 28 @ 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm

|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every 2 weeks that begins at 6:00pm on Wednesday, repeating until Wednesday, April 11, 2018

This is a series of two workshops that will teach participants everything they need to brew beer, while crafting two different styles of beer in the process. Please note that the ticket price of $95 for this event includes both workshop classes.

The workshops are on Wednesday, March 28th, 6-8:30 PM and Wednesday, April 11th, 6-8:30PM.

Gennaro Cataldo, founder of the Beer and Wine Hobby and a home brewer for over 25 years, will be teaching participants how to brew any style of beer they favor, while the class brews two different batches of beer (the class will select from the options of an IPA, a Golden Ale, a Lager, and a Trappist ale).

We will also be using organic ifarm hops to inaugurate our very first beer brewing course!

We are keeping this class small, at twelve people, so each person has a chance to ask as many questions as they want AND get their hands into the brewing process.

The first workshop session will teach the process of mixing ingredients and initiating fermentation. It will cover useful fermentation knowledge, the equipment necessary for brewing, and invaluable sanitation methods. During the second session, we will bottle the beer (an area beginning brewers often fail) and discuss common brewing mistakes, brewing techniques for different beer styles, and the many ingredients available to a craft brewer.

All materials will be provided. Each participant will go home with ten 12 oz bottles of beer (split into the two beer types we choose), as well as the skills to brew their own favorite beer varieties. The workshop will also have Home Brewing kits available for sale so participants can jump-start their own brewing hobby.

Join us for an all-inclusive workshop to begin brewing with style.
