Awakening Adulthood: Creating A Life You Love

Meditation + Wilderness + Connection

ifarm LLC and Zen Center North Shore are collaborating to offer a wild meditation retreat for adults aged 18 to 24.

Awakening Adulthood is a weekend experience at ifarm LLC, a beautifully restored farm haven set alongside Towne Pond and surrounded by acres of scented herb gardens and forest glades. Led by Zen teacher Joan Amaral and life coach/mediator Nick Shrewsbury, the retreat will teach practical skills for an authentic self-love that can transform painful limiting beliefs, spark passion, and help you to recognize the power and beauty you already possess. The days will include time for yoga, organic lunches, and relaxation on the farm.

There are scholarships available for this workshop. Feel free to contact ifarm at 978-887-0878 or with questions or scholarship requests.

Awakening Adulthood Topics

  • Deconstructing toxic cultural narratives of connection and fulfillment so you can create a vision of living and working in a way that feeds your soul.
  • Disempowering the “gremlin” voice of shame and embarrassment so you can feel freer to connect and trust.
  • What gritty, realistic, practical self-love looks like, how to develop it, and how it can heal.
  • Practical tools for finding communities and creating friendships that nourish your heart.
  • Tools for processing overwhelming emotions like loneliness, uncertainty, and isolation when moving into a new stage of life.
  • Tools to glimpse your passions and concrete steps to ignite them.

Joan Amaral

Joan is the guiding teacher of Zen Center North Shore, located in Beverly, MA. Joan is a dharma heir of Zenkei Blanche Hartman in the lineage of Shunryu Suzuki, Roshi. Her interest in zazen grew out of a background in modern dance and developed during her six years of training at Tassajara Zen Mountain Monastery. As a priest living back out in the world, her primary focus is on the dynamic relationship between formal practice and everyday, messy human life.

Nick Shrewsbury

Nick is a district court mediator, a yoga teacher, and a life coach who has traveled the world to study psychology and connection. He has lived with wolves, trained teams of sled dogs, and works as a mediator in the Salem juvenile court system. He completed his bachelor’s degree in Psychology at Prescott College and is a certified RYT-200 and Yoga Tune Up teacher. Nick’s passion is bringing out the authentic beauty that each person possesses.

At ifarm LLC, we celebrate the differences that make each individual unique, and warmly welcome people of every race, religion, and gender identity.

In the case of cancellation and rescheduling due to weather, we will send out an email to all registrants at least 12 hours before the event. We will also send out an update on our facebook page. You can read about our cancellation policy here.
