Learn about GPS navigation and geocaching during this FREE family-friendly event. We will explore the Greenbelt’s Bald Hill Conservation Area and the Boxford State Forest as we hunt for hidden geocaches. We will teach participants to use a GPS while we hunt for one of several geocaches in the area.
Geocaching (jee-oh-ka-shing) is a kind of modern-day treasure hunt. Geocaches are hidden boxes that can be found by GPS. They typically contain a logbook, trinkets for trade (left by other geocachers), and occasionally a disposable camera to photograph your triumph. Caches can be hidden anywhere (and can be found around the world) from the side of a tree to an urban monument.
It is best to reserve a space above if you are interested! This adventure is a part of Greenbelt’s monthly walk series. GPS units provided.
