Come and learn the ancient art of bookbinding in this one day workshop. Experienced artist and bookbinder Meg Black will teach attendees to craft six different books: Participants will take home their book art and the skills to craft more books in the future.
This class is limited to six students to ensure each participant has ample time to ask questions and receive guidance.
Meg will teach attendees to craft six books, each in a different style used by cultures around the world, including a style popular in ancient Rome and another from imperial China. The class will cover bookbinding vocabulary, review the tools and materials traditional to the book arts, and guide participants to the best sources to purchase materials. In the course of crafting the books, participants will cover foundational techniques like stitching, scoring, template design and folding.
It will be a value packed class covering bookbinding skills, tools, history, and artistry in the farmhouse!
Please bring the following materials to the Bookmaking workshop: Scissors and a 6 or 12-inch ruler (no yardsticks please!)
